Crochet4LifeCrafts Update

Hey Guys! I hope you all had a great weekend! Did anyone try last week’s Recipe of the Week? I’m actually making it tonight!

Also I have big news. The fruits of my labors have started to come in! I made my first sale from my Etsy store on Saturday! I’m so excited I could burst. Here’s what sold

I also want to share with you a part of this blanket pattern. The granny square!

The granny square is a very simple pattern that can be made how ever big or small you would like it to be. It can be as colorful as you want it to be too. It’s really easy to add different colors into it.

So here’s how you will do it:

Using a hook the appropriate size for your yarn ( I usually use an I hook or a J hook.), chain 4 with your first color. Then slip stitch into the first chain to make a circle.

Now that you have your circle, chain 3. Next you’re going to do 2 double crochet into the circle. Now, chain 2.

Next you are going to do 3 double crochet into the circle. Then after the 3rd double crochet. You will chain 2 again. Then do another 3 double crochet in the circle. Then you will chain 2 again and work yet another 3 double crochet into the circle.

And chain 2 again. Now, you will slip stitch into the top of your first chain 3! And you have your first round!

Now you will need to turn the work around so you’re looking at the “back” of it. You will chain 3 then work 2 double crochet into the space made by your chain 2 from the last round. You’re going to chain 2 and then work 3 into the same space. You have now made your first corner in the second round.

After you have done your second set of 3 double crochet, you will chain 1 then work 3 double crochet into the next space made my a chain 2. Then chain 2 and work 3 double crochet into the same space. And you have your second corner.

You will keep working the same way until you make it back around to the start of this round. Then you will slip stitch into the top of the chain 3 and turn the piece.

Next you will chain 3 and work 2 double crochet into the same space. Then chain 1 and work 3 double crochet into the space of the chain 2. You will now chain 2 and then work another 3 double crochet into the same space.

Chain 1 and work 3 double crochet into the next space. Continue this patter all the way around until you reach that first chain 3. Slip stitch into the top of that chain 3 and turn the work.

This pattern just repeats over and over and over again. Like I said, you can make it however big or small you would like to make it.

I just got an order for another custom granny square baby blanket. Here’s what I have done on it so far.

I’m really excited to see how this one turns out. I’ve not done a pink, white and gold blanket before. But I think it will look stunning when it’s finished. I’ll be sure to post update pictures.

Also if you would like to see more status updates on this project or on any of my other projects, head over and like my Facebook Page!

I hope you enjoy this pattern. It’s super easy and goes really quick. I’ll be back Wednesday with a feature on my friend, Jennifer’s Etsy Shop.

  1. I love granny squares! Very versatile and easy stitch pattern to use. I like the way that you wrote out all of the instructions – I think that people that want to learn how to crochet get put-off when they look at a pattern with all of the confusing looking abbreviations. The blanket is gorgeous – love the colors! Congrats on your first sale!! 🙂
